Guest Post: Behind The Scenes With Dan Barham

Words And Photos By Dan Barham

The next installment of the always awesome Kranked series is a mere two weeks away - Kranked Revolve is slated for a June 1st release and from what I’ve seen already it’s destined to be the best yet.

For the second year running I’ve been lucky enough to work on stills for a section of the movie, and was yet again blown away by the level of riding, creativeness and craftsmanship that have been captured on film. It’s truly awe-inspiring, and as usual the Coastal Crew were fantastic to work with; if any aspiring pros out there want pointers in work ethic they need look no further than Dylan, Curtis and the Kyles for how it should be done - relentless optimism, professionalism and just general awesomeness is all these guys know.
In lieu of the magazine-bound action shots, here’s a sneak peak taster of some of the behind-the-scenes images from my time with the crew:
Every single bit of trail needs to be picture-perfect

Kyle's always stoked to drop in one more time

A sneaky teaser shot of one of the most insane structures I've ever seen. You won't believe your eyes when you see what we got.

Not only can Dylan shred at a pro level, he's an amazing VT editor as well.

It's often difficult to appreciate the size of some of these features without a sense of scale

Thank God for waterproof boots. I spend a lot of time in rivers.

A lot of my shots wouldn't be possible without help - Laura and Dan are killer assistants.

Wait till you see what they saw...

The 3 of us went up to Williams lake for a few days this past weekend to finish up James Doerflings segment for Kranked Revolve. I did some mini sniping with my point and shoot, of random events from the duration of our trip.

Sea Otter edit off of MTBville....so sick!

Sea Otter Roadtrip Video from mtbville on Vimeo.

Brendan Howey

Howey is probably one of the coolest, nicest, RADEST kids I have ever met. He sent over these photo's from a little back yard session he had recently. Check it out.

Doing what he does.

Getting ready for the 09 season.

Howey getting steezy out of a berm and over a roller! WOW!

When Otters fight back.

See ya in June.

1st Place yo

So the guys from the rap group called "1st Place" cruzed out to the compound yesterday, to film a music video for one of their songs called "I'm RAD". The lyrics to this song are so sick and now the music video is going to so sick! TJ the main rapper grew up mountain biking here in Nor Cal, so the first thing he did when he got out to the compound was hop on Terrys V-10 ahahahaha. We filmed everything!! I had so much fun, and A-rev and Dave the Loc cruzed up for the awesome times.....
Once I get a copy of the video Ill post it ASAP.... its going to be RADDD
Thanks Again 1st Place.

Coming June 2009

A high definition tribute to the ride and the rider.

The Ride. the coolest human-powered adrenaline tool ever invented - the mountain bike.

The Rider. 15 individuals hell-bent on pushing the limits. They are crazy men who think they are normal.

REVOLVE blasts in cinematic glory from the French Alps to the lush coast of British Columbia, incorporating Dirt Jump, Trail, Freeride, Slopestyle and Downhill.

Ride zone Compound Style

Yo whats up every one.....
Seven days ago Terry, Randy , and I  packed up all of our tools and loaded up the RVs at headed to Sea Otter to build the Ride Zone. We got down there and set up the most legit compund the day befor the dirt was dumped. Once dirt was droped Zander Rev  and R dog showed up and it was game on.  Day one we had the park looking like a park, we were killing it so hard.  Day 7 now and were chillen so hard...
sorry the pics are not in order....

The track will be open on the 16th see you there!

V.I.O. POV Helmet Cam

Curtis and I played around with a V.I.O. helmet camera yesterday. This thing is amazing! Its simple, its easy to set up/mount and even eaiser to download the footage. I am very impressed with the results considering the size of the V.I.O. Check out what it looks like to be mounted to Curt's head and bike going full tilt.

Radioactive?

Kyle Norbs and Myself had the day off work, so we went to visit Brandon and do some riding. The pictures do no justice to how BRIGHT his new bike really is. Florescent orange and yellow, with matching rims dipped in radioactive waste......but not really.
Check it out!

Doing something Brandon would do....

Sorry for the terrible pics.
